In many cultures, the dragonfly is regarded as a symbol of light, adaptability and grace. Because the dragonfly demonstrates the utmost adaptability and grace in flight, as well as the ability to reflect and refract light, it is sometimes referred to as a "light-bearer”. A common symbol in Native American culture, the dragonfly is also believed to be a totem spirit guide, which can direct the way to make dreams or wishes into reality.
